Students and Universities:

We have had an application sent to Ebrahim (Kemi Olofinnika PhD). This was agreed with committee to support this student. Ebrahim will arrange payment (via Neil) and we would also like a ‘warm-up’ presentation some time convenient.

Neil mentioned we’d had an attempt at being scammed. So we must keep up out guard. For this reason I’ll not list AFES bank balances in the minutes (available on request)

John mentioned we are all up to date with our 5x sponsors. There are 2x sponsors who have not yet paid – Neil will follow this up and advise if we need to remove names from our sponsorship ‘board’

Speaker gifts ok? Chee Kong has 5x speaker cut glasses as gifts

Lunch and learn – BP: Stephen will approach his BP contact

Cloud drive organized by Chee Kong – Greg has posted the AFES mailing list onto this. Please use this mailing list going forwards. IF sending out a bulk email please consult with Greg first – as we can usually coordinate marketing of events.

We have new global tracker app on AFES website which indicates where website ‘hits’ are based. Please have a look for fun, and if your anywhere exotic please check out the AFES website and increase our global footprint

Low attendance at the Wednesday evening talk was addressed:

  • potential to send out questionnaire enquiring what AFES members want, or want to change
  • maybe hold a Wednesday talk on an afternoon and see if this changes attendance
