Casper van den Nouland

Shell UK Exploration & Production

Casper is a petrophysicist with Shell in Aberdeen. He obtained an MSc in physics at Leiden University in the Netherlands before joining Shell in 1999. The first four years he worked on a variety of projects in the Dutch onshore exploration team before transferring to a role as field petrophysicist in the Dutch offshore production asset. In 2006 he moved across the North Sea to join Shell's Aberdeen office. Recently Casper was also a member of the DEVEX committee. Casper has a keen interest in core analysis, thin bed evaluation and permeability modeling.

Craig is a Principal Core Specialist with RDS Ltd. located in Aberdeen. Previously he worked for over twenty years in the core analysis business (Core Lab), following on from an initial spell of mud logging (Gearhart), after graduating from Liverpool University in 1981. Current role includes project management for core analysis / SCAL and formation damage projects, quality control of SCAL data / integration with petrophysics / reservoir models and saturation height modeling.

Richard Fairbairn

CNR International (UK) Ltd

Richard works on CNR's international portfolio of interests, primarily in North Sea, West & Southern Africa as senior petrophysicist. These fields cover the full range of development ages, from exploration & appraisal, through to mature field infill drilling. In a previous incarnation, Richard has worked for Shell UK & International and consultancy companies. Beyond 'conventional' petrophysics, he has particular expertise with 'Russian' logs & cased hole operations.

Anika is the Regional Technical Sales Engineer for Weatherford’s Wireline Services group, her areas of responsibility cover Europe and sub-Sahara Africa. She has 10 years industry experience, working as a field engineer for Schlumberger Wireline in various locations and as the Marketing Manager for Sondex.

John Morgan

 

Following graduations from both St Andrews (1998) and Aberdeen (1999), John has led a somewhat varied career as a computer programmer, geophysicist, surveyor, mud-logger, MWD engineer and most recently MWD co-ordinator. John is currently sheltering from the storm of recession in the haven of academia, and is studying for the MSc in Integrated Petroleum Geoscience at Aberdeen University.

Franck Michel

Halliburton, Sperry Drilling

Is currently the Europe West Africa Petrophysical support Manager for Halliburton, Sperry Drilling, based in Aberdeen.

Franck grew up near Lyon, France then elected to attend Robert Gordon’s University in Aberdeen, graduating with a BSc in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. He was hired on by the local Sperry office in’96, and worked as a MLWD Field engineer for the next 5 years, transferring into the LQA/QC Log Analysis team in 2001 supporting both the UK and Algeria LWD operations. In 2005, he then moved into a commuting Log Analyst position for the Other Africa district primarily supporting Cameroon, Gabon and Congo, followed by the Africa Regional Petrophysical support Manager’s position in 2007.

Andy Ronald

Andy is a Petrophysicist with PGL-Senergy located in Banchory.  Prior to joining PGL he worked for Schlumberger Wireline in Aberdeen and the Far East as Field Engineer, ops support and sales.  Andy currently provides operational support for several clients in addition to performing project work involving rock physics, saturation height modeling and petrophysics.

Steve Cuddy

Steve is an independent Petrophysical Consultant and Principal Petrophysicist at RDS. He is also an Honorary Research Fellow at Aberdeen University where he holds a doctorate in petrophysics. He has 35 Years industry experience in formation evaluation gained with Schlumberger and BP.  Areas of expertise include the quality control and repair of wireline and LWD electrical logs, saturation-height (FOIL) functions, electro-facies modelling (Fuzzy Logic) and permeability prediction. Steve was the General Chairman with overall responsibility for the 2008 Edinburgh Annual Symposium of SPWLA.

Jorge Gonzalez Iglesias

Schlumberger Oilfield UK PLC

Jorge is a Petrophysicist in Schlumberger currently supporting LWD and Wireline data acquisition in the North Sea.  His present job also involves data processing of basic and advance technologies. He joined Schlumberger in 2006 based in Aberdeen.  Jorge has a MSc Mining Engineer and is finalizing MSc in Petroleum Engineer  (TUDelft).

Rebecca Nye

Rebecca recently joined Fugro-Jason UK Ltd as a Petrophysicist based in Aberdeen.  Prior to this she worked for Schlumberger Drilling and Measurements where she began her career as a LWD engineer in Italy.  Rebecca’s current role involves petrophysical evaluation and rock physics modeling for seismic (AVO) inversion, 4D and Geostatistical inversion studies.

Richard works on Business Development within Core Lab's Rock Properties group based in Aberdeen.
